Man arrested for hijacked car
The car was hijacked in Villieria in January last year.
A man was arrested in Mamelodi after a hijacked car which was hijacked more than a year ago was finally found.
Mamelodi police spokesperson Warrant Officer Michael Mbewe said the 43-year-old Tembisa man was pulled over by police on Friday during an operation.
He said the man was found driving the blue Volkswagen Polo which was hijacked in Villieria in January last year.
The operation started around 10:00 where various law enforcements conducted crime patrols, stop and searches and vehicle check-points around Mamelodi hotspots, Mbewe said.
“The suspect is detained in Mamelodi East police station while investigations continue. He will appear in the court soon for charges of unlawful possession of a hijacked vehicle.”
