The man was allegedly shot while attempting to break into a house at a complex.

A house robber was shot multiple times after allegedly attempting to break into a house in Meyerspark on Saturday night.

Reports from the scene indicate the man, believed to be in his twenties, was shot by a resident around 22:00, Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said.

She said the man allegedly tried to break into a house in a complex on the corners of Simon Vermooten and Bush roads.

“Netcare 911 paramedics were called to the scene and managed to stabilise the injured man before transporting him to a nearby hospital under heavy police guard,” Mathe said.

The details around the shooting will be investigated by police, she said.

Police could not provide further information at the time of publishing.
