Cops clamp down on crime
A total of 22 people were arrested for drugs and 14 illegal liquor premises were closed down during an operation on Thursday.
Several people were arrested in an anti-crime swoop in Olievenhoutbosch on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the Tshwane West Massive Operation was conducted by police of nine different police stations in and around Pretoria.
“During the operation, 22 people were arrested for possession of drugs,” she said.
“A total of 14 illegal liquor premises were closed down while 14 fines were issued to the value of R21 000 for liquor transgressions,” said Selepe.
About 19 fines were issued for non-compliance on second hand goods.
Selepe said two roadblocks were held where 243 vehicles and 642 people were searched.
Roadblocks were conducted in Olievenhoutbosch and Pretoria Central.
“Over 250 pamphlets on crime prevention tips were distributed at Quagga Mall, Atleyn Mall, Mall at Reeds, Forest Hill Mall and Olievenhoutbosch Complex,” she said.
“The operation was focused within the nine stations in Tshwane west cluster: Hercules, Attridgiville, Pretoria Central, Woderboompoort , Wierdabrug, Olievenhoutbosch, Laudium, Erasmia and Pretoria West,” she said.
