Confusion over alleged burglar
Police have heard three of four versions of what really happened after an 85-year-old woman shot alleged burglar.
An alleged burglar hospitalised after he was shot and wounded by a home owner in Pretoria West has not been arrested, police said Tuesday.
“We have heard three or four different versions of what happened from the victim and residents,” said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
“A case of attempted murder and attempted house burglary has been opened. No one has been arrested at this moment. More information will be provided soon.”,
The wounded man was shot by an 85-year-old woman when he tried to break into her house in Proclamation Hill on Monday afternoon.
Bestcare spokesperson Xander Loubser said: “A man entered the premises and apparently attempted to break in but was shot by the occupant of the house. He had arterial bleeding and was taken to Kalafong hospital,” he said.
It was not immediately clear whether the intruder was armed.
Area Patrol Unit (APU) spokesperson Atrichia ESilva said: “The tannie shot the suspect in the leg before he fled the scene. Luckily, the APU unit chased the suspect and caught him.”
ESilva said the 85-year-old woman was traumatised.
Selepe couldn’t confirm whether the alleged burglar was still in hospital by Tuesday afternoon.
