VIDEO: Charges to be laid over shaken baby
Parents fuming after video emerges of baby being shaken at pre-school.

Centurion parents intend laying criminal charges against a caretaker at their baby’s pre-school in Doringkloof after a shock video of her wildly shaking him surfaced on Thursday.
Werner and Tarina Human said they were “shocked and outraged” when they saw footage of their seven-month-old son being shaken in his baby bouncer to get him to calm down.
“It is unbelievable. At first I couldn’t comprehend what I was actually seeing,” said Werner.
“That feeling of disbelief was soon followed by sheer anger. Anger that my son was treated that way and that a school that always presented itself so well would not tell us about it.”
Werner said he rushed his son to ICU to have him assessed.
“We were so scared that he might have suffered brain damage or that he might have long-term damage. Luckily he is unharmed.”
The video was taken by another employee of the pre-school and sent to Pretoria lawyer Michelle Boot.
“I then informed the department of social development of what happened,” said Boot.
Werner said what angered him most was the false sense of security he allowed himself to have.
“The same caretaker who bounced my son around used to send us photos and videos of him smiling and laughing. We used to think he was safe.”
He said he was recently informed that a social worker had been appointed to assess the case.
“We aren’t leaving this. We are going ahead and laying criminal charges against the school.”
The owners of the school could not be reached for comment.
