Jarred Crous inspires pupils at Crawford College

Olympian Jarred Crous visited his former high school Crawford College and chatted to pupils.

Pretoria-born Olympian Jarred Crous spoke to pupils at his former high school, Crawford College in Lukasrand, east of Pretoria, on Thursday.

Crous joins the likes of Ronald Schoeman and former Crawford College pupil Cameron van der Burgh, who have previously put SA on the map with swimming.

The 19-year-old Crous will be taking part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.

Earlier this year, he won the Aquatic Super Series men’s 200m breaststroke in Perth.

Rekord caught up with the swimmer when he visited his former school.

Pupils waved South African flags during the ceremony and Crous said he felt honoured to be received in this manner by the pupils, his former teachers and principal, Andre Botha.

Botha said, “Crawford College Pretoria and Crawford Schools are extremely proud of both Crous and Van der Burgh. We wish them well with the coming Olympics. Crawford is rooting for them all the way.”

Crous said he was honoured to have such wonderful support from both his former high school and family.

He said his mother Charlene, father Juan and siblings Austin and Jocelyn were extremely supportive.
