The OK Furniture store at Soshanguve Plaza was recently robbed off goods worth R384 000.
The store’s security guard Jabu Montani, OK staff members and two customers witnessed the robbery.
Three men entered the store and one pointed a firearm at Montani while the other two searched the customers.
The robbers stole 16 laptops, 10 plasma screens, 10 music systems and amount of R1 500, among other items.
Rietgat police station spokesperson Lolo Mangena said OK furniture was not the first shop at Soshanguve Plaza to be robbed this year.
“So far we have about seven robberies reported from Soshanguve Plaza,” said Mangena.
Mangena told Record the shops that were targeted most were: Nizams, Jet, Edgars Active, Liquor City, KFC and Roman’s Pizza.
Kedibone Mothemane, of United Security Guards at Soshanguve Plaza, said they did not have a police mobile located in the mall, but police did patrol the area.
She said they had a shortage of security guards.
Mothemane said they asked the property owner to install cameras in the mall and requested that Rietgat police station provide them with a mobile that would act as a backup for security guards.
Mothemane is still waiting for feedback on this.
The car used by the robbers was not identified and the cost of all the electric appliances stolen, including the money taken, was above R 384 000.
