Violent protests erupt in parts of Pretoria
It was rumoured the cause was the announcement of mayoral candidate Thoko Didiza.
Violence gripped parts of Pretoria after various protests erupted due to faction feuds on Monday.
It’s still unclear as to what may be the cause of the violence in Mamelodi and Atteridgeville.
It has been rumoured that the violence is due to the election of Thoko Didiza as the new ANC, mayoral candidate for the August elections.
Police are trying to gain access into Atteridgeville but all entrances and exits are barricaded.
In the afternoon a Tshwane metro police vehicle was over turned in Arcadia by alleged ANC protesters.
A man died after he was shot twice outside an ANC event in Pretoria West on Sunday.
Simon Modihe (38) succumbed to his wounds the same evening, according to our police spokesperson.
Modihe was shot when ANC faction feuds erupted outside the Tshwane events centre where the ANC mayoral candidates were announced.
