Nyaope boys evicted in Daspoort

Nyaope addicts in Daspoort were finally evicted by metro police on Friday.

Nyaope users in Daspoort were evicted by the metro police on Friday, following a number of complaints from residents.

The nyaope boys had set up residence in the bushes opposite houses, and residents blamed them for the crime in the area.

Last week, the nyaope users made it clear they would not be leaving Daspoort anytime soon because residents gave them food and alcohol.

On Tuesday, DA ward councillor Elma Nel said the metro police launched a successful clean-up on Friday, and the users were evicted.

“All of their belongings were taken away and the place was cleaned up. The drug squad and metro officers made several arrests as drugs were found at the scene. Addicts who were not arrested, were taken to the shelter.”

Resident Monica Makgato said on Tuesday, she was glad the nyaope boys had been evicted.

“I am relieved because now my family and I can live in peace.”

“I would like to thank Nel and her team for their effort. Without them, I would still be stuck with those boys and maybe my house would have been burgled because they had already broken one of my windows.”
