Stolen vehicle recovered after crash
“The man lost control of the vehicle and collided with a water pipe.”
A man was arrested in Eersterust on Tuesday for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Eersterust police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said the 32-year-old man was arrested after police spotted a car driving at an abnormally high speed.
“The officers signalled for the white Renault to stop but the driver sped away,” said Shibambo.
After a short chase, the man lost control of the car and collided with a water pipe, after which the driver was apprehended.
“The vehicle’s registration was tested and we found that it was a stolen car.”
Shibambo said the car was reportedly stolen in Sunnyside.
“The man will appear in court soon.”
