Police hunt four Hermanstad robbers
Two shop owners assaulted during a robbery in Hermanstad.
Four men are wanted for robbing a shop in Hermanstad on Thursday morning.
The robbery occurred around 08:00 on the corner of Van der Hoff and Helen roads, according to Bestcare paramedic Concern Vukeya.
“The two business owners, who were victims said, four men climbed out of the minibus taxi and came into their shop. They took out firearms and pointed them at the owners and customers,” he said.
“The customers were ordered to lie on the ground and two robbers assaulted the owners.”
Vukeya said one of the owners, was kicked in the ribs.
“The robbers demanded cash, as they tried to suffocate one owner by putting a plastic bag over his head,” he said.
“The men stole cigarettes worth R40 000, and R5 000 in cash before fleeing the scene. No shots were fired and no one was seriously injured.”
The customers were treated for shock, he added.
The Hercules police were not available for comment.
