Central, metro police arrest several lawbreakers at the weekend

The Tshwane metro police and Central police cluster arrested numerous lawbreakers in Pretoria at the weekend.
Metro police inspector Phindile Molefe said a drug dealer and a supplier were arrested in Gezina on Sunday for possession of dagga worth R107 000.
“They were found with 13 Ziploc and 10 vacuum-sealed bags of dagga. Six more people were arrested for drug dealing and drug possession in Villeria, Laudium and Silverton,” she said.
“The total value of drugs taken off the streets in four days was R249 500,” said Molefe.
The metro police also arrested four people in Sunnyside for drinking in public and one for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Molefe applauded the officers for their hard work.
Central police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the police were investigating a case of business robbery after an unknown number of people arrived in vehicles bearing various taxi association logos and allegedly stole goods at Kgosi Mampuru and Boom Street filling station in Marabastad.
“They took money from a petrol attendant and even tried to pump petrol into their cars,” said Selepe.
At the weekend, 20 people were arrested for drug possession in the CBD, four for theft, one for malicious damage to property and 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
“We also arrested one person for theft out of a motor vehicle. All these arrests were made during police patrols within the city centre,” said Selepe.
