Motorist safety tips; after woman’s hijacking
Two men emerged from a bush and robbed her.
A woman was robbed on the N1 in Centurion on Wednesday after her car ran out of gas.
Orange Fox Security spokesperson Marce Bester said two men emerged from a bush and robbed the woman.
“Luckily she saw an ER24 vehicle and stopped them. They called us and we assisted the woman by getting petrol for her.”
Orange Fox Holdings CEO Cecil Swart said his firm would join forces with its counterpart Copwatch to make Centurion safer.
“By combining our armed response initiative with Copwatch, into one centralized nerve centre, we wanted criminals to know that we will not stop fighting crime.”
Copwatch CEO Bertus Myburgh the two parties would seek to provide a more comprehensive service to the Centurion community.
They offered some safety tips for motorists:
– Always check your tyre pressure, water and petrol levels when you are planning your day trips.
– Ensure that you have your insurance company’s details with you in case of an emergency as well as those of a towing and road-side assistance outfit.
– Carry these details in your car should your cellphone get stolen or lost.
– Have your medical company’s details.
– Make use of your tracking company’s panic button should you be involved in an accident, robbery or a vehicle breakdown.
– Test your tracking unit every three months and ensure it is functioning.
– Call your security company to arrange assistance.
