A 40-year-old Somali was shot and wounded at his store in Eersterust, Hammanskraal, on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said three armed men entered Ahmu Geza’s store around 21:00 on Sunday, and attacked him.
Moremi said the men shot Geza several times in the upper body.
“They [robbers] fled without taking anything from the shop. The motive was not known,” said Moremi.
Moremi said the victim was recovering in ICU.
“We hope he will give us information that could help us with our investigation,” he said.
Police were still searching for the men.
Moremi said a case of attempted murder was being investigated.
Last month, a Pakistani shop owner was murdered in his shop, Progress General Dealer, in Eersterust in a robbery.
Moremi said three armed men apparently entered Toria Mohandod’s (56) shop around 21:00, and attacked him and his colleague Waheed Aslam.
“The robbers allegedly put plastic bags over the two Pakistani men’s heads to suffocate them,” said Moremi.
“Torio died on the scene while Waheed was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Customers alerted the police when they found the two men on the floor.
Moremi said the attackers fled with R800 in cash, four cellphones, cigarettes and airtime vouchers.
He said the police were investigating charges of business robbery, murder and attempted murder.
“No shots were fired. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made yet.”
Moremi said it was unclear if the two cases were related.
He appealed to anyone with information to contact Temba police on 012-717-9128 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
