‘Cable thief’ caught redhanded in Silverton
Silverton suspect arrested for cable theft.
A man has been arrested by the Silverton police after he was allegedly caught red handed by an Armed response company stealing wire cables.
The man who is believed to be in his late twenties was stopped in his tracks by Brinant Monitoring after he was spotted on CCTV footage climbing over the wall into a recycling company’s premises in the area.
“We believe he saw this as an opportunity to resell the cables at a lower price and make money for himself, our response team was at the scene and as such was able to apprehend him,” said Brinant controller Rugi Van Niekerk
The man was caught around 02:00 on Friday, and faces the charge of theft.
