Hammanskraal bus commuters moan about service
Hammanskraal commuters complain about bus shortages in the area.
North West Star Line bus service (NWS) has blamed the June unrest for the long queues its customers experienced in Hammarskraal recently.
This after commuters complained they had to wait long for the service.
NWS operations manager, Oupa Mabatha said the unrest that resulted in 10 NWS buses being torched had wreaked havoc with the company’s timetable.
“We have 282 buses for Hammanskraal transporting around 25 000 commuters,” explained Mabatha adding that a strategy was in place to resolve the shortage.
Record asked Putco bus service if there was a possibility it would service routes in Hammanskraal.
Spokesperson Jason Seshuba said: “The government would soon tender new routes. We are hoping that Hammanskraal would be one of the areas. Putco would go operate there if mandated by the government.”
Hammanskraal resident Dolphin Thibedi said he was unhappy about the shortage of buses.
He said he sometimes waited for more than three hours for a bus.
“Our problem with the buses is that they are always late and are unroadworthy,” said the frustrated Thibedi.
Timothy Matjebe a resident in unit 5, said he was always late for work due to the shortage.
“I have to wake up an hour earlier,” said Matjebe.
He pleaded with the government to intervene.
