Fort Klapperkop crime dwindles
The crime that has plagued Fort Klapperkop has decreased since two men were arrested two months ago.
Crime at Fort Klapperkop next to the Groenkloof nature reserve seems to have decreased since the arrest of two men recently.
Visitors frequenting the popular game reserve, mostly cyclists, had been robbed and one man was pelted with stones.
Concerned visitor Rob King said: “We have not had any crime in the area since these two guys were arrested two months ago.”
“We believe there are actually three of them. We are still looking for the third one.”
Visitors to the reserve believed the men were behind most of the criminal activities in the area.
“They [suspects] have been denied bail on two occasions and we are confident they won’t get off scot-free. We have been following their case closely as concerned residents because the crime affects us all,” said King.
Tshwane metro also erected electric fencing around the Groenlkloof nature reserve recently to enhance security in the area.
“The metro has also deployed extra metro police in the area and the high visibility of the police has played a key role in the decreasing crime,” said King.
