Police pounce on R1.5m copper thief
“The truck driver attempted to sell the copper to a metal buyer in Waltloo.”

Two men were arrested for possession of stolen copper worth R1.5 million on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the police seized a truck transporting a stolen container filled with copper in Waltloo, Pretoria east.
He said the truck was from the harbour in Durban.
“The truck driver attempted to sell the copper to a metal buyer in Waltloo.”
Masondo said the suspicious buyer immediately contacted the police.
He said the value of the container alone was estimated at R200 000.
“We arrested the driver and the truck owner.”
The two men were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
