GRAPHIC IMAGE: ‘Dog killer’ gets bail

He allegedly stabbed the animal six times with a knife.

A man accused of killing his dog in Mooikloof Ridge in Pretoria has been released on bail.

Jacques van der Merwe of Wetnose Animal Rescue said the man had not yet pleaded on a charge of animal cruelty.

“He’s been released on bail and will appear in court on 23 August.”

The man’s arrest followed an apparent altercation with his wife, which led to the dog biting him.

He allegedly stabbed the animal six times with a knife.

Van der Merwe said the Wetnose centre received a call from a creche in Mooikloof about the drama.

The man’s children reported to their teacher that they had found the dog wrapped in plastic in the house.
