Policeman sentenced to 12 years for murder
Pretoria police officer convicted for murder of another police officer.
A policeman has been sentenced for 12 years behind bars on Monday after he shot and killed a fellow police officer earlier this year.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) secured the murder conviction at the Pretoria Regional Court on 29 July this year after Warrant Officer Titso Letlatsa Ntshenyeo killed a fellow police officer.
“He was found guilty of murdering a police officer whom he shot eight times earlier this year,” said Ipid‘s spokesperson Robbie Raburabu.
The shooting resulted from an argument between Ntshenyeo and police captain Muzikayise Xulu (43).
Xulu went to Ntshenyeo’s house in Lotus Gardens, west of Pretoria, to serve the accused with an eviction order only to be killed according to Raburabu.
The accused had been renting the the house from Xulu’s, but Xulu had ordered Ntshenyeo out of his house.
“The accused discharged eight rounds into Xulu who died at the scene,” said Raburabu.
In May 2015, Ntshenyeo, was dismissed from police service for his crime and has since started serving his sentence.
