Man held over 12-year-old murder
The former taxi boss allegedly followed his wife to her mother's house where he started shooting without saying a word.
A Tembisa man has been captured over his wife’s murder after being on the run for 12 years.
The 59-year-old was being treated in a Pretoria hospital under police guard, said Hawks spokesman Lt-Colonel Robert Netshiunda on Friday.
He allegedly shot dead his wife in Tembisa in 2004. His son and daughter-in-law were wounded.
“The suspect, a former taxi boss, allegedly followed his wife to her mother’s house where he started shooting without saying a word, killing his wife on the spot,” said Netshiunda.
The man would appear in court as soon as his health had become stable.
Director of Interpol Pretoria Brigadier Scott Naidoo said: “South Africa as a member of the international community will never allow itself to be the hiding place for criminals.”
He said this arrest illustrated the country’s commitment to Interpol’s vision of connecting global law enforcement agencies for a safer world.
