Detective appears in court for drug possession
“The detective was arrested by the Tshwane Metro Police Department’s (TMPD) anti-drug unit on Thursday.”
A police officer was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs in the east of Pretoria recently.
Police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said the Villeria police detective, whose name was yet to be confirmed, briefly appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
“The detective was arrested by the Tshwane Metro Police Department’s (TMPD) anti-drug unit on Thursday.”
Metro officers spotted a vehicle parked in East Lynn. When they approached the vehicle, they found two males inside.
“One [suspect] was packing dagga in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and a bag containing 150 snatches of heroin was found. Another bag was found with dagga.”
Upon further investigation, the suspect was identified as a police detective.
“A docket of drug possession and drug dealing was opened at the station.”
Brits said the detective would appear again in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court at a date to be confirmed.
The TMPD released a statement on Facebook commanding officers for their honest efforts.
