Mark Boucher named Titans coach
Proteas legend Mark Boucher will be taking over from Rob Walter as Titans coach.
Former Proteas wicketkeeper Mark Boucher was named the new coach to the Multiply Titans on Monday.
He takes over from Rob Walters, who is now a coach in New Zealand.
Boucher (39) is widely regarded as South Africa’s greatest wicketkeeper with more than 500 dismissals in Test cricket.
During his playing days, he was known as the “record collector” for his ability to break record after record.
His career ended after an unfortunate eye injury he sustained in the 2012 tour of England. He had played 147 Tests and 295 one-day internationals.
Since then, Boucher has become a leading figure in rhino conservation and is a consultant to the Proteas in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.
“I am stoked by the opportunity to get back into domestic cricket. Upon my retirement, I realised I would not be able to play the game any longer, but to be involved in the capacity of coach to a domestic powerhouse like the Titans is thrilling,” said Boucher in a statement.
