A man fell to his death from the old ABSA Bank building this afternoon in Newcastle’s CBD, the Newcastle Advertiser reported.
Bystanders stood-by in horror as emergency personnel responded to the call, shortly after 2pm.
A shopkeeper, whose store premises was mere feet away from the incident, claimed he was horrified when the incident took place.
“I was in my store when it happened. I just heard a woman screaming, and when I came out, the body was there,” he said.
The woman who witnessed the man’s death has since been taken to Madadeni Provincial Hospital to be treated for shock.
Circumstances leading to the 26-year-old man’s death will be investigated by the police.
The Newcastle Advertiser extended its condolences to friends and family of the deceased.
