Woman beaten by would-be housebreaker
She was saved when a neighbour came driving down the road before her attacker could do more harm.
A young woman in East Lynne, Pretoria, was beaten to a pulp by a man who tried to break into their house a week before the assault.
He kicked her, slapped her and almost killed her. She was saved when a neighbour came driving down the road before her attacker could do more harm, Citizen reported.
Melissa Brown (30) caught the burglar red-handed while he was pulling aside a curtain in her mother’s house, probably to have a look inside first. He was with two other young men.
“I was cleaning the hallway when I notice someone with a red T-shirt pull my mother’s bedroom curtain away.”
Citizen reported that she screamed and her mother came to see what was wrong. “I asked him what he wanted through my bedroom window and he said he was thirsty; he wanted water to drink.
“I asked them how can you look for water through my bedroom window. Melissa chased him away and said he wanted to do something wrong and she yelled at him,” Du Plessis said.
Sensing danger, she tried to open a neighbour’s gate and pulled at it while calling out for help.
Her attacker was already there and he kicked her in the side.
“I fell to the ground and hit my head hard against a rock. He kicked me in the upper body and in the face.
“He pulled me up by my belt and slapped me through my face. There was no one in the street and no one heard my cries.
“At that moment a white bakkie was coming down the street and his friend called out to him to stop.
“The man in the bakkie was our other neighbour,” Melissa said.
Her attacker and his friend ran off.
Captain Coba Brits, Villieria police spokesperson, confirmed a case of assault was being investigated. She said police were looking for a group of men responsible for various crimes in the East Lynne Community.
