Dagga worth half a million rand seized
The plastic bags with the dagga were buried in the garden.
Five people were arrested after dagga worth over half a million rand was found at their home in Hammanskraal.
Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the arresting officers were following a tip-off in Temba Hammanskraal around 10:15 on Sunday.
“Upon arrival at the house, they found five males aged between 30 and 40. The men assured the officers they didn’t sell any drugs and the officers would not find anything,” said Mahamba.
Police thoroughly searched the house and the yard.
“They proved the five suspects wrong when they started digging in the yard and uncovered 20,5kg of dagga valued at R512 500 in 15 plastic bags, and seized R5 900 in cash,” said Mahamba.
The five men were arrested and detained at Temba police station, and would appear in court soon.
He said the metro police were very proud of their anti-drug unit that continuously showed dedication to their work.
He said the metro police would continue the fight to rid society of drugs.
