Three injured in taxi accident

“Paramedics found the taxi driver, believed to be in his 20s, trapped in his vehicle”

Three people were injured when a minibus taxi and an SUV collided on the N1-N4 split in Watermeyer on Wednesday morning.

Emergency service, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said the taxi driver, believed to be in his 20s, was trapped in his vehicle when paramedics arrived.

“After his removal from the vehicle, he was assessed and it was determined that he sustained moderate injuries,” she said.

Bodasing said two of his passengers sustained minor injuries.

All the injured were sent to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and will form part of the police investigation.
