Thousands turn up for Spring Walk in the Jacaranda City

The Spring Walk attracted people from all walks of life including people with disabilities.

Thousands of people, young and old, put on their walking shoes to take part in the Discovery Jacaranda FM Spring Walk 2016 on Saturday.

The Discovery Jacaranda FM Spring Walk is an annual mass participation event that takes place at the iconic Pretoria Botanical Gardens on the second weekend of spring.

Jacaranda FM’s programming manager, Gavin Meiring, said it was a wonderful day out.

“Nine thousand people turned up to take part in the event. They came from all walks of life, including people with disabilities and mothers with prams, pushing their children,” he said.

This annual event provides fun for the whole family, while promoting the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.

Now in its fifth year, the event allows participants of all ages an opportunity to welcome the official start of spring in Gauteng.

Every year, thousands of people come together for the event to enjoy the beauty of Pretoria in spring.

Participants took part in the 5km, 8km or 15km walk.

Each route allowed walkers to enjoy the beauty of the Jacaranda City at their own pace.
