Police find dealer’s hidden stash

Silverton police arrest a drug lord in Nellmapius.

The Silverton police believe they have caught themselves a big fish.

This after they arrested a man in possession of drugs valued at R80 000, counterfeit CDs and money, including foreign currency on Friday 19 September.

Spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the police and their railway counterparts were conducting a stop and search blitz as part of Operation Legadima in Nellmapius Extension when they were tipped off about a man selling drugs and cocaine from his home.

Sepato said the police went to the home to investigate.

“They searched house and found dagga and cocaine stashed in the ceiling and a hole in the floor,” said Sepato.

The police also found counterfeit CDs and local and foreign currency.

The dagga was valued at R30 000 and cocaine R50 000.

A 31-year old man found in the house was immediately arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.

Sepato said Silverton detectives would investigate further but said he believed the police had struck a blow against organised crime in the area.

He encouraged residents to maintain a good relationship with the police and report crime in the area.

The man will soon appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
