Police search for father, son shooters
As the men fled, one shot the father in the leg and the son in the arm.
The Sinoville police are on the hunt for two men who shot a father and son in their home in Montana on Friday in a botched robbery.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the shooters walked on to the yard through the driveway gate which had been left open.
“One pressed the intercom and asked for a Mr. van Wyk.
The father, who answered, became suspicious and shut the burglar gate at the door,” van Dyk said, adding that as the men fled, one turned fired twice.
“He shot the father in the left leg and the son in the left upper arm.”
The father was rushed to Montana Hospital and son to Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
He said the police were searching for the culprits, and residents were helping.
Van Dyk urged residents to keep their gates and garage doors closed at all times.
“If you don’t know the person [knocking], do not even open,” he said.
Van Dyk said the identities of the victims remained unknown at this stage.
