Woman’s body still not identified
Police are investigating after a woman’s body was found in Soshanguve on Wednesday.

The identity of the woman whose body was found in Block L, Soshanguve, north of Pretoria on Wednesday is still unknown.
The body was found by resident Koketso Kokhutja, and a group of people who wanted to occupy land where the woman was found.
“We were busy moving stones and getting rid of overgrown grass when we noticed a black plastic bag which we thought was filled with heavy rocks. But to our surprise it was a body of a woman,” said Kokhutja.
Kokhutja said they called the police.
“Soshanguve police, a forensics team and a local councillor came to the scene and took her body away.”
“The police told us a murder case would be opened and arrests would be made soon.”
Although no information was yet available on the woman, many residents believe it to be the body of a 31-year-old resident named Rachel who went missing recently.
Rachel went missing on 16 June after she went out with friends. Her family reported missing few days after her disappearance.
Another resident, Anna Serosha, said Rachel’s mother went to the scene on Wednesday after hearing that the body of a young woman had been discovered on the vacant land.
“She cried and said it might her daughter’s body as the clothes she was last seen in were similar to those the mystery woman was wearing,” said Serosha.
A knife was also founded with a plastic wrapped around the handle, which was left on the scene.
Soshanguve police spokesperson Constable Reneilwe Makwalo confirmed the woman had not yet been identified.
“A murder docket has been opened and no arrests have been made. Anyone with further information should contact the nearest police station,” said Makwalo.
