Pub shooting an armed robbery – police
“An armed man demanded everyone to lie down.”
A woman was injured during an armed robbery at a pub in Pretoria East around 02:52 on Saturday.
According to a reliable source at a security firm, cellphones, cash and other personal belongings were taken during a robbery at Mavericks pub on Wekker Street in Moreleta Park.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the manager and staff were cashing up when a gun was fired at the pub’s entrance.
Breedt said a 19-year-old staff member was shot and wounded in the leg.
“An armed man demanded everyone to lie down.”
Breedt confirmed some of the staff’s personal belongings as well as cash were taken from the pub before the unknown number of attackers fled.
“Netcare 911 arrived on the scene and transported the wounded woman to a nearby hospital.”
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and business robbery.
