Hunt for headless man’s head continues – police

The man’s head could have gotten stuck to one of the vehicles that hit him.

Investigations are ongoing after a man’s battered decapitated body was found in Pretoria East recently.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance in finding the man’s head after his body was found lying near a ditch next to the N4 East towards Bronkhorspruit on 29 August.

Spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said police were still urging members of the public to provide any information that may lead to the finding of the man’s head.

He said the family, whose identity was being kept private, needed closure.

Sepato confirmed the family did fetch the body from a government mortuary shortly after the body was found.

He said the body was in a bad state when police found it on Monday three weeks ago.

“We [police] have reason to believe the man was struck by a number of vehicles when he died.”

“Even after a lengthy search of the area, police were unable to find the man’s head.”

He said the man’s head could have gotten stuck to one of the vehicles that hit him.

“Police are continuing with investigations.”

Sepato said motorists had complained about pedestrians crossing the N4 highway numerous times.

“We will arrest pedestrians who are found crossing the busy highway – for their own safety.”

He said police would arrest anyone they found obstructing traffic, by crossing the busy highway.
