Moot ‘drug dealer’ still in custody
Police arrested an alleged cocaine dealer following a tip-off from a resident.
An alleged Moot drug dealer is still in police custody.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the 23-year-old man would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in October.
The man was arrested on Tuesday, in the Moot following a tip-off from a resident and made his first court appearance on Wednesday, to face a charge of drug possession.
Breedt said the informant told the police that the man had drugs in his house.
He said when the police searched the home, they found cocaine with the street value of R1 000 and other chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs.
The police were tipped off while they and their Tshwane metro counterparts were conducting anti-crime operations at various local parks.
Breedt said seven people were arrested during the operations.
The operations targeted hotspots in the Moot.
He said on one of the operations, the police had demolished a temporary shelter which had been used for criminal activity.
