Man arrested for murder in Sunnyside
The man was arrested in his flat in Sunnyside on Sunday, allegedly for involvement the killing of a man who was pushed off the ninth floor last week Friday, to the street below.
A man has been arrested for murder in Sunnyside.
Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the man was caught during police operations in the area.
“His arrest follows a last Friday morning incident at Tambotie Flats in Leyds Street, where an adult male died after he was allegedly thrown over from the ninth floor, “ said Mavimbela.
Mavimbela said the police did not rule out the possibility that the incident was linked to sex workers in the area.
He said over the past week, two men had been robbed in the same block of flats, and one of them had been in the company of an unknown woman when about three men pounced.
Mavimbela appealed to motorists to contain their lust and refrain from picking up sex workers in the streets in Sunnyside.
“Some people are attacked while preparing to be serviced, and are forced to part with bank cards and pin codes, cash and other belongings,“ Mavimbela said.
Another 87 people were arrested for various crimes at the weekend.
The culprits were arrested for crimes such as assault assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drugs, fraud and attempted murder.
They are all expected in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
