Tuks student threatens non striking students to K*k
“We can’t be striking while you are in class learning, we are doing this for everyone, so stay away from class.”
Non-protesting students at tertiary institutions seem to be caught up in the #Feesmustfall conundrum. Protesting students are intimidating the non-protesting ones to join the protest action.
Listen here:
The soundcloud clip followed a threat on social media by a University of Pretoria (UP) protester towards other students, urging them to stay away from class, it said if they did not abide, “they would k*k.”
The protester in the clip said: “We can’t be striking while you are in class learning. We are doing this for everyone – so stay away from class.”
A student from a private institution wrote on Facebook: “We are paying school fees monthly, if we fail to pay we sit at home, Will they pay for me? We need to draw the line here… I work my ass of the ground to make sure I pass and I attend school…. who will fight our battles? Them… no it’s not fair on us our parents.”
UP spokesperson Anna-Retha Bouwer said the university was aware of the clip where non-protesting students were threatened. She said the university condemned this. Bouwer said UP was currently investigating the threats.
