A police search was continuing on Thursday for a Hercules businessman who went missing earlier in the week.
Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said it was believed that Humayon Humayon was kidnapped on Tuesday.
Hours after Humayon disappeared, his brother received a call from an unknown person demanding a ransom.
Msimango said two men apparently went to Humayon’s supermarket in Mountain View on Monday to sell cigarettes.
“The victim told the suspects to bring the cigarettes the following day and when they arrived the next day, he got into their car [in a white Ford Bantam bakkie ] and they drove off.”

“A charge of kidnapping was laid at Hercules police station on Wednesday.”
Msimang said no one had yet been arrested and the investigation was ongoing.

According to the Pink Ladies, Humayon was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
