Attempted theft at primary school

Two men walked into an empty classroom at Danie Malan primary school and took car keys that were lying on the teacher's desk.

Security at a school in the north of Pretoria is to be upgraded after two men attempted to steal car keys out of a classroom on Friday.

Crystal van den Berg, of Noord Crime Busters, said two men walked into an empty classroom at a school in the north of Pretoria at around 12:00 and took car keys that were lying on the teacher’s desk.

“Luckily a girl saw them and snatched it from them and immediately called for help,” said Van den Berg.

She said the men then allegedly got into a white vehicle and drove off.

Van den Berg, who is also head of the primary school’s safety and security, said she was planning on holding a meeting on Monday to upgrade the school’s security.

“This is second time they [the men] have tried to break into the school,” Van den Berg said.
