Mamelodi man gets 8 years for murder
The quarrel while gambling escalated to murder.
The Mamelodi East police are proud to announce their work in the murder investigation has resulted in a conviction.
After dragging on for four years, Scelo Lekokotla (29) was sentenced to eight years imprisonment in the Mamelodi Regional Court on 10 November.
Police spokesperson, Captain Michael Mbewe said the Mamelodi East resident was found guilty of murder for stabbing a 20 year old man in Mamelodi in 2012 after a quarrel.
“The men quarrelled while gambling and Lekokotla pulled out the knife and stabbed the 20-year-old to death,” said Mbewe adding the victim had died on the scene and that Lekokotla was arrested that same day.

Mbewe said the conviction would not have been possible without the extra effort by the investigators.
He also condemned gambling at social clubs and advised club members to adhere to the liquor act.
