Social media users have reacted with dismay to a video showing police running away from a scene of violence.
The video appears to be a clip from CCTV footage taken immediately after an unidentified business robbery.
The police can be seen in a confrontation with the business owner, but the situation quickly turns when an unknown man pulls out a gun and points it at another man.
As the man is held at gunpoint, everybody else, including the two police officers – a man and a woman – make a run for safety.

No shot is fired in the clip but the men tussle before going off camera as a woman tries to break the men apart.
The clip then ends.

Among the commentary from social media users, Edwin Steynberg says: “These are the ones that give the police a bad name… because of them we are losing faith in the police. But it’s true, they probably just there for the payslip, didn’t sign up to get shot, didn’t sign up to serve and protect.”
“I personally am grateful to those few that wear the uniform because they want to protect us.”
Derick Naidoo says: “They are so fat and only used to bribes …cannot arrest anyone. That is a norm among our police, the crime scene was surrounded by police and then we hear suspects escaped.”
Sean Bracher calls for the officers to be dismissed with immediate effect.
