A Mozambican man was arrested for possession of and dealing in counterfeit electronic goods. He appeared in Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Victor Chauke (41) was arrested by the flying squad in Winterveldt on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Samuel Sebola said Chauke was arrested at 653 Maseko Stand in Winterveldt, following a successful investigation.
“The suspect was found with hundreds of CDs and DVDs. Five printers, four screen monitors, one laptop and one scanner,” said Sebola.

Police suspect the man had been involved with the manufacturing, distribution and sale of contraband DVDs and CDs.
Sebola said selling contraband goods was a serious crime.
Chauke’s case has been postponed to next Thursday. Meanwhile he will remain in custody.
“He was denied bail because he is not a first-time offender,” said Sebola.
Chauke was recently arrested by Pretoria Central police and appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on 14 November for the same crime and was released on bail.
“He has violated his bail condition. He has shown contemptuous attitude and a total lack of remorse,” said Sebola.
