Anika Smit’s murder case postponed
Andre van Wyk who faces murder, mutilation and rape charges failed to appear in court on Friday.
The alleged killer of Anika Smit failed to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Friday leading to the postponement of the case.
But his parents were present.
Andre van Wyk (26) handed himself over to police in September and was sent for psychiatric observation to Weskoppies to determine his fitness to stand trial.

He was supposed to spend 30 days there but spent an additional 20.
Smit was found dead in her father’s house in Theresa Park in 2010. She had been raped and her hands severed. The hands have never been recovered.
On the day of her death, Smit, a Grade 11 learner at Gerrit Maritz high school, had skipped school due to an ear infection.

The police initially charged her father Johan Smit later, her boyfriend Nico Venter for her murder before dropping the charges.
Damien Treeby, nicknamed Vampire, was also questioned.
Treeby would later testify he drank blood at parties and was introduced to Satanism.
The case has been postponed to 15 December.
