Melgisedek to be rescued

“We are trying to reduce the amount of people on the streets.”

Hope is in the air for the run-down Melgisedek and its hapless people.

A newly established non-profit organisation have decided to rehabilitate the residents of Melgisedek.

The Chris Cantered Community (C3) wanted to help Melgisedek’s residents, said spokesperson David Mendes.

“Melgisedek has long been a contentious issue in the community,” he said.

“We have good news for those of you sharing our discomfort at the condition of the property and sewage that flows into the street.”

The organisation was seeking to reduce the number of people living on the street.

Mendes said the organisation would help the residents by taking them in to be rehabilitated and fully assessed.

“This way, we might help them get jobs. Another step closer at getting them off the streets,” Mendes said.

“In the face of increasing difficulties in society our response simply must be to take upon ourselves a greater measure of collective social responsibility.”

He urged people of the Moot to take hands and contribute wherever they could, whether in terms of time, resources or expertise.

“The Moot is a beautiful place, and one thing I’ve learnt over six years of living here is that when the Moot pulls in the same direction amazing things can happen.”

Christ Cantered Community was established on 18 November last year.

“We focus on core community issues and addressing them through innovative and inclusive programmes,” said Mendes.
