Tshwane West District recently held their sport awards function to give credit to athletes who performed well on the sports field during 2016. Two of Hoërskool Akasia’s athletes received awards at this prestigious function. Donell Fakude was awarded the Secondary Sportsman of the year for athletics. He was a member of the Gauteng North Athletics Team and participated at the National Championships. At this meeting he achieved a fifth place in the 400m for boys u.15. Masego Mothupi was awarded the Secondary Sportswoman of the year for netball. She was part of the Gauteng u.19 netball team which participated at the national tournament.
