Moreleta Park CPF help police trim crime

Garsfontein police officers also came to assist.

The Moreleta Park CPF came together on Saturday in a bid to make the area a safer place.

Chairperson Magda Fourie said they were asked by the Garsfontein police to assist in trimming shrubs on the corner of Garsfontein Road and De Villabois Mareuil Drive which had become a hot spot for smash-and-grabs.

“The long grass and shrubs make it easy for criminals to hide,” said Fourie.

She said that it was important for the CPF to help as it did not want to expose residents to danger.

“We were about seven members that helped,” said Fourie.

Garsfontein police station commander Colonel Kervin Solomons also came out to thank the member of the CPF and lend a hand.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones, confirmed that smash-and-grabs frequently occurred at that corner.

“We are very appreciative of the CPF’s assistance as this area contributed to crime in the area,” she said.
