Crawford Pretoria Chess shines at Arnold Classic African Sport Challenge

The Arnold Classic Challenge is a sports extravaganza initiated by legendary bodybuilder, actor and politician Arnold Swarchzenegger.

An international event, with the objective to encourage youngsters to get off the couch and become more active, was held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 5 and 6 May and attracted many sport enthusiasts in 40 different sports activities.

Students from Crawford Pretoria stood up to the challenge and achieved the following medal placings in the Chess Schools’ Challenge:

Preparatory Junior team – Silver medal (2nd out of 24 teams)

Preparatory Senior team – Gold medal (1st place out of 24 teams)

College team – Silver medal (2nd place out of 12 teams)

Students at Crawford Pretoria engage actively in chess under the guidance of South African chess champion and coach Benjamin Collen.
