300 arrested during Operation Fiela
“Operation Fiela yielded positive results aimed at disrupting and preventing criminal activities within the area.”
A total of 300 people were arrested by the Pretoria West cluster police during Operation Fiela between 28 May and 3 June.
The operation was conducted at Pretoria Central, Pretoria West, Wierdabrug, Wonderboompoort, Hercules, Laudium, Erasmia, Olievenhoutsboch and Atteridgeville policing precincts.
Pretoria Central police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said crimes included theft, theft out of a motor vehicle, smash and grabs and property contact crimes.

“More than 60 people were arrested for possession of dagga, drug possession, dealing in drugs and dealing in dagga,” said Selepe.
She said a 19-year-old man was arrested for raping her sister’s child (7).
A 33-year-old man was arrested for a business robbery at Karabo parking management in Sammy Marks Square.
“It is alleged two unknown males entered the complainant’s office and inquired about monthly parking for three vehicles.”
“They then produced firearms and forced the complainant to open the safe.”‘

Selepe said the men took an undisclosed amount of money, two cellphones and a laptop.
She said one man managed to escape, but the other was arrested.
“The arrested suspects will appear in the Pretoria Central Magistrate’s Court and Attridgeville Magistrate’s Court,” said Selepe.
“Operation Fiela yielded positive results aimed at disrupting and preventing criminal activities within the area.”
“We will continue with crime prevention efforts throughout to make it unbearable for criminals to commit crime in the Tshwane West Cluster.”
