A wendy house in Broodryk Street Wolmer caught fire on Saturday morning at around 10:00.
A neighbor Billy Vos said he heard an explosion and then saw smoke. He went outside and saw a wendy house on fire.
According to Vos the house belongs to a bed bound elderly man. “It was only the wendy house that caught fire. The rest of the house was unharmed.”
He said rumours of neighbours went around that it might have been a paraffin stove that caught fire. The exact causes are not known.
Vos said his neighbour suffered burn wounds, but was treated in hospital.
