A man was arrested on Wednesday in Pretoria North on charges of cultivating and possession of dagga.
Police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said police were alerted by an anonymous tip-off. “We arrested the man, who was cultivating dagga at a private dumping site inside a 200l water drum in Doornpoort, around 10:00,” said Van Dyk.
“The plant was still young. It looked at least two weeks old.”

Van Dyk said the suspect believed he was growing chilli peppers and not dagga.
He said the 23-year-old would appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
In a separate case, police recently fined two liquor stores R2 000 each and confiscated the alcohol after discrepancies were found in their liquor licences.
