On Tuesday 1 August, the Tyger Valley College grade 12 life sciences learners had a unique opportunity to visit molecular laboratories at the University of Pretoria thanks to professor Annie Joubert and her team.
The learners designed and carried out their own investigations with the help of the researchers and looked at breast cancer cell lines under microscopes and then applied various reagents to them to see how the cells would be affected.
The learners also had an opportunity to visit the Institute of Cellular and Molecular Medicine where stem cells are being researched and the Centre of Neuroendocrinology. It was an exciting and inspiring day.
At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
